A small town

There is a humble little town called Longreach.

According to Wikipedia, Longreach is a town located in central western Queensland, Australia and is approximately 700 kilometres from the coast, west of Rockhampton. The town is named after the 'long reach' of the Thomson River on which it is situated and was gazetted a town in 1887. In 1892, the railway reached the town, and the population began to grow. It is the administrative centre of the Longreach Local Government Area.

If you read further, you'll find that Longreach is also the home of Qantas Founders Outback Museum, which has some of the world's most awesome collection of aircraft. And a big-a** Boeing 747-200, a retiree from the national airline of the country. You probably don't wanna miss out the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, where you get to know some history about famous Aussie stockmen and Aborigines.

Most importantly this is the place where Glenn grew up, and where I made a few doggy friends.

Here are some pictures of the business district, a.k.a. where all the shops are.

Antique bicycle outside a pub

Seafood shop, yummmm........

A place where the locals bowl

Must have hotel & dentist too

Most importantly the booze... burp...

This time I didn't have any pictures of the museums (because we went to both museums few years ago), so I had to go 'borrow' from Reef n Outback Rail Tours and Australian Traveller.

So if you happened to be holidaying in Queensland, or living in Australia, and would love see more stuff down-under-ish, or outback-ish, Longreach is always there for ya. (wonder why this ended up like an tourism board advertisement)

Buddha in the garden

Ever wonder why the buddhas in Ayutthaya kept going missing and some of them have no heads?

Because some of them are in your bl***y garden!

I hope Glenn's parents don't get offended because these were shot in their garden, and yes, its just another lame Buddha joke :D

KL Bird Park

Trust me, one of the many difficult things to photograph is bird, because the d*** thing just wouldn't stop moving, its like ocd... obsessive compulsive disorder... yaiks...

Went to the KL Bird Park few months ago to practise my lousy skill, and as usual, out of the 200 or so pictures, only 5 are ok to be put on this blog (there might be none qualified if measured by professional standards)

Dark

This was taken in the apartment in Caloundra when we went down there to attend John & Beth's wedding. I like it very much for some reason.

World's most relaxed dog

Most of my friends know that I love dogs, and one of the many reasons I got myself into photography is so that I can capture some goofy moments of doggies :)

Recently we revisited Glenn's family in the little town of Longreach, tucked away in the not-so-outback outback Australia. I think Longreach could be famous overnight if Qantas did up that museum of theirs. Anyway this post is not about the town, but about the not-so-little chihuahua that Glenn's parents own, Pepe Reynolds.

Pepe has a relatively good life as a dog, most probably because he is treated like a person, or rather, like a little boy, which by the way is how the Reynolds family treats all its pets. Every morning, Pepe will go for a walk with mum & dad for approximately 3 kilometres, that is according to Enid (mum).

Like any other dog, Pepe also likes going on a car ride, so mum & dad will sometimes take Pepe & Leonie's dog Sweetie (we'll talk about her next time) for a ride around the town.

After the walk/ride, his other chores include having lunch on the couch and taking multiple naps throughout the day.

Sometimes Pepe goes out to the river with the folks for a fishing trip, where he sits on mum's lap after she casts the lines.

After a long day, Pepe proceeds to have dinner, and of course continues with his many compulsory naps of the day.

Guys & girls, see for yourselves, this is definitely the world's most relaxed dog you've ever seen.
I swear I heard him snore when I took this picture!!

Sony T7 ~ Part 1 ~ Rovinj (Croatia)

Before Glenn bought me the lovely Nikon D60, he let me have his tiny Sony T7, which at the time was the world's slimmest digital camera.

In June 2006 we went backpacking in Europe, to a few different places such as London, Ljubljana (Slovenia), Rijeka, Rovinj, Pula (all in Crotia), and Venice (Italy).

Here are some of my favourite pictures from the little town called Rovinj, tucked away on the north Adriatic Sea, with endless supply of seafood, gelato and espresso. To read up more on Rovinj, please go to wikipeadia or wikitravel.
